I typed this on Saturday 9/8:
I was cleaning yesterday afternoon in a storage room, on my knees and an iron fell from a shelf onto my head and when I tell you I was bleeding, that is putting it lightly. It cut about a 4 inch gash long and about 1.5 inches or so deep into my scalp on the top, right side of my head. I got it together enough (kids totally freaking out, of course we're here alone and I'm bleeding so that my shirt was so saturated in blood by the time I got upstairs to call 911 and get a towel you couldn't read the writing on the front of my shirt anymore, blood was POURING down the side of my face/head). I called 911 and the local paramedics were here in about 5 minutes and they got the bleeding to stop. My neighbors, Rob and Heather, were home and she came over here and got the boys to go to her house w/ Rob (super nice couple) and he fed them dinner and all while my mom was on her way here, and Heather drove me to the hospital where after much waiting I had to get 4 staples in my scalp (ouch) and a tetnis shot (ouch again, my arm will be sore for weeks). I think the worst part was thinking it could've been worse and if I'd passed out down there I could have lost a LOT more blood and living alone w/ my boys scares me anyway and you just don't know what might happen. I always try to be so careful for that reason. This was such a weird, fluke thing though.
I just now took a bath and used the boys' bathroom b/c they have a hand-held shower head so I could gently rinse my hair; half my head was stiff w/ dried blood. I got bathed and got my hair washed out and feel a lot better, however my cut right now is like a burning, stabbing pain so it's time for more Tylenol. I'll go back next Friday and get the staples out. I shouldn't have to miss school this week; mom's here with me this weekend so I'll play it by ear. I'm going to be taking it easy and am about to try and lay down and watch the Bama game which will be hard for me. I'm usually jumping and yelling. Alas, something is telling me (maybe the throbbing in my head and ear) I can manage to chill today.
