Winter in Alabama. Yesterday I left for classes wearing jeans, a tee shirt w/ a sweatshirt I could pull off by afternoon because it was going to be in the upper 60's and sunny; perfect weather if you ask me. Today, I left for school a bit more dressed and with a coat because the forecast said a high of 45 today (and my poor flowers outside in bloom are freaking out I'm sure), so I open the garage door about to leave and I see this "drizzle" and walk outside to see if it was raining, questioning if I should grab an umbrella....it was snowing!!!!! It was not in the forecast at all not even this morning and rooftops all around were white and it was sticking in the woods and darker, cooler spots. Unreal! It let up when I got to school, about 30 minutes away, but it was still cold and windy. Brrrr. I saw a few flurries after that but wow, that was a shock today. I hear it's going to be back in the 60's again tomorrow though. Aaaaaaaah. Much better.
I got to dissect a cow heart today. It was huge and totally gross and very cool. This semester of anatomy is much like the last but more in depth info and more info period; it's more overwhelming. You just have no idea how much you never knew about blood, the heart and its entire functioning in relation to everything else in the body and everything that can go wrong in between and the names and diseases and treatments for all of it as well. My next exam should be a doozie to say the least. We have our first lab practical coming up this month, too, which I *hate* doing. All this stuff is set out from models to actual hearts to microscopes and you have to go around and name everything labeled on each "thing" or slide. There's not a lot of time to go in and look at that stuff and about impossible to study for at home b/c all the junk is in the lab!
So anyway, I have the sweetest little boys and they love their mommy. Tyler made me the sweeeeeeetest Valentine card I've ever seen. It's a pop-up card, he did it w/ construction paper (he's so talented) and wrote a poem on it. The outside says: Roses are red, violets are blue, both are lovely but not as much as.....(then you open it and the pop-up heart reads....) YOU! Then he wrote Happy Valentine's Day and Love, Tyler and drew a heart by his name. Not to be outdone, Evan has made me about 30 Valentines since seeing Tyler's. Evan actually has been making them for me all week and hiding them, making me wait for Thursday before I can have them. Tyler, just like his mom, couldn't wait any longer! Tyler also gave me a small box of chocolates he'd been hording away since Christmas. I thought it was precious. They're both having a little Valentine thing at school tomorrow and I have got to swing by somewhere after class in the morning and get them something from me for V'day! Oh, Ev has also taped some 'heart' picture on the outside of my laptop so when I close it I can see his picture. I swear they never leave me alone! LOL!
Tyler and Evan both went to the dentist this week for cleanings. Evan has his first loose tooth on the bottom and is really pumped about it. No cavities and everyone's alright despite Tyler's mouth full of crooked teeth. We are supposed to take him back to the orthodontist soon to see about what we're looking at a year+ down the road with his mouth. He definitely will have braces, that is a fact. Evan's X-rays right now shows that he has a lot more room in his little mouth so maybe his teeth won't be so crowded. Tyler's going to have to wear braces for a while and there will be a lot of trips to the ortho for tightenings and such and I dread that for him; I hated it and it always gave me a headache. I've already told him how badly I regret not wearing my retainer though (so does his uncle Blake) and encourage him to wear it like he should when he gets those braces off so those teeth aren't tempted to start turning again!
Tyler's news team started this week for the morning "news" at school. There were lots of applicants apparently and he got picked for the final cut. I have to get him to school around 7am which stinks but oh well. It's every 3rd week he has to do it. This week he's done weather reports and I think a fun fact of the day one day, too. He says it's a lot of fun.
Evan has a new girlfriend or two, not sure he won't really come clean with me about what's going on there. It was this girl, Ali, he said he told her he loved her and wanted her to be his girlfriend and she said OK. (Understand, all the girls physically fight over Evan.) Well, Ali was sick and missed a few days of school so Evan must have gotten tired of being alone and said Farrah was his new girlfriend now. Maybe he's two-timing them, I have no idea. I asked him if he wanted to get a little something special for his girlfriend for Valentine's Day and he acted deaf. Ty and I were crackin' up. We were in the car and he suddenly and seriously started saying, "What? What? I can't hear you my ears are stopped up." What a jerk. LOL He mumbled something about not wanting to talk about that right now and I haven't heard anything else about a girl. Tyler doesn't know girls are alive yet except a cool girl in his class that plays video games and gets along well w/ all the guys. He is sooooo not in girl mode yet. Evan has been for years. I'm telling you, those two are night and day in most ways.
I'm tired of typing and I need to get some more laundry folded and get ready for bed. We have a big weekend coming up. Mimi is coming for the weekend and we're going to something for the boys at church Friday night then Ty has b'ball practice after that, a game Saturday, and a family Valentine hang-out at my bro's house on Sunday. The boys are out of school Monday for Prez Day but I have to go to anatomy so Mimi will be here partying like a rock star with Ty and Ev.
Hope all is well w/ everyone!
